IZZ bassist/songwriter/vocalist, John Galgano, to release debut solo album on September 11, 2012

August 28, 2012 By NJProghouse

John Galgano: Real Life is Meeting

(source: http://www.izznet.com/)

8/28/12 – New York, NY – Doone Records is pleased to announce the release of Real Life is Meeting, the debut solo album by John Galgano on September 11, 2012.

John Galgano is a founding member of art-rock group, IZZ, and has been one of the band’s primary songwriters throughout its career. Real Life is Meeting presents eight tracks varying in styles and instrumentation, from the catchy, art-pop flavor of “Bigger on the Inside,” to the experimental, synth-based “The Only Thing,” to the 19-minute piece “1000,” all the while taking the listener in unexpected directions.

Real Life is Meeting showcases Galgano’s humor, his introspective and confessional lyrics, and his surprising song structures. In turns breathtakingly adventurous and heartrendingly beautiful, this music represents a musician and songwriter unencumbered by any preconceived ideas. The result is a fluid, naked, and daring collection of universal musings set to music – meditations on what it means to be human in the 21st century.

Galgano also recently played bass on Renaissance keyboardist Jason Hart’s new release, I and Thou’s Speak. Galgano has performed with IZZ at many art-rock festivals in the United States and Canada and has played bass for Hart while serving as the opening act during two Marillion Weekends (2007, 2011).

The line-up for Real Life is Meeting is:
John Galgano: Bass guitar, vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards
Laura Meade: Vocals
Paul Bremner: Electric guitar solos on “The Only Thing” and “Look Around”
Brian Coralian: Drums on “Lucky for Me” and “1000”
Greg DiMiceli: Drums on “This is How it Happens”
Shawn Bishop: Backing vocals, keyboards, percussion
John Raimondo: Drums on “Bigger on the Inside,” “The Only Thing” and “Look Around”
Chris Baldini: Lead vocals on “Look Around”
Greg Meade: Electric guitar solo on “Lucky for Me”

Mixed and Produced by Shawn Bishop
Mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer John Shyloski

Welcome to the NEW NJProghouse Website!

August 22, 2012 By NJProghouse

It’s been a long time coming….  but we finally have a new website..

The ticketing system we are using now is not what I had originally planned on……

Unfortunately earlier today the system decided to not do anything it is supposed to do, and all the things it should not…

Lucky for me I had a plan b…

There are a few sections of  I am currently working on, hopefully will be finished by early next week.

  • Historical show dates.. which will reside here
  • Alumni (Names and links of bands that have performed for the NJP)
  • Photos (for those of you that have tons of great pictures from over the years, let us know)
  • and of course the “Staph” page…  For those unaware, the “Staph” are the collective of people who are the NJProghouse.
Getting back on the subject of photos… Our previous hosting company “Lost” quite a bit of data including quite a few galleries.  I am asking of the fine folks that have been to numerous shows (with good cameras) please let us have some of the photos. We will give you full credit for each gallery you can help provide.

We will have a more formal ribbon cutting when everything is finished…….

– Jon

Mike Keneally Wing Beat Fantastic Duo Tour with Rick Musallam on 09/18/12

August 22, 2012 By NJProghouse

Mike Keneally Announces Wing Beat Fantastic Tour with Rick MusallamAcclaimed recording artist and performer Mike Keneally is celebrating the release of his magical new album, Wing Beat Fantastic, by scheduling a series of intimate duo performances with musical compatriot Rick Musallam.Wing Beat Fantastic is the highly anticipated result of a songwriting union between the famed rock experimentalist and legendary XTC tunesmith Andy Partridge. The smart and melodious album is garnering rave reviews worldwide.Of their successful partnership, Partridge remarked, “I didn’t know how any of the tunes we’d agreed to write together were going to come out, but I know one thing, SO musical is this man that him just sitting with a guitar across his lap or perched at a keyboard pulled things from me that I can honestly say ‘I don’t know where they came from.'””The chance to work with Andy was absolutely a mind-blower for me,” Keneally said. “His songwriting gift is still as strong as ever, and I’m fiercely grateful to be able to help bring new Andy Partridge music into the world.””This tour will be a good opportunity to take some songs from my past repertoire, and stack them next to these new songs I’ve written with Andy,” mused Keneally. “We’ll be focusing on a lot of my most melodic and accessible tunes — hopefully with just enough of the fancy technique stuff to keep that portion of the audience satisfied!”Long acclaimed as one of the world’s most creative and intense guitar and keyboard players, Keneally’s talents as a vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist are nearly unequalled in rock music. He has released over 20 albums of his original music since 1992, and has built a body of work of remarkable inventiveness and originality.Keneally played in Frank Zappa‘s last touring band, performing as a vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist. He’s appeared on many Zappa albums, is currently a touring member of Dethklok (as a guitarist) and the Joe Satriani Band (as a keyboardist), and has also recorded or performed with Steve Vai, Robert Fripp and many others.

BEARDFISH will release their new album, “The Void”, on August 27th/28th via InsideOut Music.

August 20, 2012 By NJProghouse

Only about 1 ½ years after the release of their last record “Mammoth”, Beardfish are now back with a new masterpiece. “The Void” will be released on August 27th 2012 in Europe and on August 28th 2012 in the US via InsideOutMusic.y It is darker, heavier and in some parts it even has a bit of a metal edge to it, while still incorporating all that Beardfish and their typical warm retro-sound stand for.

The band comments: “We went full-on with this one… We’ve had some trouble in the past to convey our live energy on the studio albums. This is the one that shines through, I think! It’s an album about loss. It’s about love. It celebrates both life and death and the struggle in between to heal the wounds that don’t show and to actually take the step to move forward in life. We’ve been waiting to share these songs with all of you for a while now and we, Beardfish, are really proud to present to you “The Void”
